Laib Sits T-5 After First Two Rounds Of Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, IND. – The Cleveland State men's golf team opened up its 2022 fall slate Friday at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State, with senior David Laib leading the Vikings with a 36-hole score of 142.

Laib, who finished the first two rounds tied for fifth place in the overall standings, tallied a first-round score of 73, before finishing the day with a 69 during round two.

The Cleveland State trio of Gunnar McCollins, Jonny Filler and Jack Hanus are all tied for 55th after the first two rounds, while Mason Frazier finished the first day T64.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 20 birdies throughout the first two rounds, with six coming from both Laib and Filler. In addition to his six birdies, Filler also notched two eagles on the day, on hole 11 during the first round and hole 7 during the second round.

The Vikings will close out the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational with 18 holes tomorrow, with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m.
