WESTLAKE, Ohio – Junior Jules Blakely shot rounds of 73-72 to lead Cleveland State on the opening day of the Tom Tontimonia Invitational on Monday at the Lakewood Country Club.
Blakely opened his tournament with a two-over par 73 and then came back and shot a one-over par 72 and is tied for 23rd overall in the individual standings. Blakely had four birdies in each of his rounds to finish with a 36-hole score of 145.
Led by Blakely, Cleveland State is currently tied for seventh in the team standings with rounds of 291-294. Bowling Green leads the tournament with a team total of 555, while Wright State is second with a score of 564.
Freshman Gunnar McCollins had back-to-back rounds of 73 and tied for 33rd overall with a score of 146.
Junior Zach Robbins had an even-par 71 to open tournament play and then posted a 77 in his second round. His 36-hole score of 148 has him tied for 39th overall.
Jack Hanus fired rounds of 74-76 and is tied for 46th overall, while David Laib shot 82-73 and is tied for 68th in the field.
Jonny Filler, who competed as an individual, posted rounds of 76-74 and is tied for 46th overall.
