TOURNAMENT RECAP
DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Junior Zach Robbins is tied for seventh after the opening day of play on Monday at the River Run Collegiate at the River Run Country Club.
Robbins opened his day with a two-under par 70 over the par-72, 7,317-yard layout at the River Run Country Club. His opening round included birdies on 18, four and eight and 14 pars. Robbins then shot an even-par 72 over his second 18 holes of the day, which included birdies on three of his final four holes of the round.
Led by Robbins, Cleveland State is 13th overall in the team standings after shooting rounds of 303 and 306. James Madison is the 36-hole leader with a team score of 563.
Gunnar McCollins had an opening-round 83, but bounced back nicely to shoot a two-over par 74 over his final 18 holes. His second round of the day included four birdies and 10 pars.
Jack Hanus and David Laib tied for third for the Vikings and are tied for 69th overall. Hanus posted rounds of 77-80, while Laib had rounds of 75-82.
Jules Blakely rounded out the Cleveland State group as he is tied for 87th overall after posting rounds of 81-84.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (Sept. 24) on the River Run Country Club course.
