DAY ONE RECAP

HUNTINGTON, W. Va.Gunnar McCollins shot 72-66 and is tied for 13th and Jules Blakely had rounds of 68-71 to lead Cleveland State on the opening day of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday at the Guyan Golf & Country Club.

McCollins opened with a one-over par 72 and then blistered the course over his next 18 holes with a five-under par 66. He is currently 13th overall in the medalist standings, while his 66 is tied for the third-best round in Cleveland State history.

Blakely opened the tournament with a three-under par 68 and finished his day with an even-par 71 to finish 21st overall.

Led by McCollins and Blakely, Cleveland State is currently 12th in the team standings after shooting 286-286. Dayton leads the field with a team score of 543, while Domenic Maricocchi of Dayton leads the medalist chase after posting rounds of 67-65.

Junior Zach Robbins had an even-par 71 to open tournament play and finished his day with a 76. Robbins is 65th overall in the standings.

Jack Hanus made his Cleveland State season debut and shot 75-73 and is 70th overall in the standings.

David Laib had rounds of 79-76 and is tied for 85th, while Jonny Filler, who is competing as an individual, had rounds of 74-81 and is also tied for 85th.

The teams will conclude tournament play on Tuesday (Sept. 10) with 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m.
