Vikings Open Fall Schedule at Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State men's golf team will open the fall portion of its 2019-20 schedule on Sunday (Sept. 1) at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate at the Kaluhyat Course.

Fourteen teams are vying for the Turning Stone title at this year's competition, including Binghamton, Boston College, Canisius, Delaware, Mount St. Mary's, Missouri, Niagara, North Carolina, Northern Kentucky, Sacred Heart, Towson, Valparaiso and Youngstown State. The teams will compete on the Kaluhyat Course which plays to a par-72 over 6,682 yards.

The Vikings, who finished 13th at the event last year, return four letterwinners from last year's squad. Junior Zach Robbins, who was an All-Horizon League selection in 2018-19, returns after pacing the team with a 74.6 scoring average.

Junior Zak Supelak also returns for Cleveland State after ranking second on the team with a 75.4 scoring average and posting five rounds of par or better. Jules Blakely (76.0) and Jack Hanus (77.3) round out the returning players for the Vikings.

The foursome are joined by three newcomers this year. Sophomore David Laib and freshmen Jonny Filler and Gunnar McCollins will be playing their first seasons at Cleveland State.

Tournament play begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday with 36 holes of competition and will conclude on Monday (Sept. 2) with 18 holes.
