CLEVELAND, Ohio - Steve Weir has been named Director of Golf/Head Men's Golf Coach at Cleveland State, while Mitchell Moore has been named Head Women's Golf Coach.

Weir's change will take effect on July 1, while Moore will begin his duties on Monday (June 11).

Weir recently concluded his 11th season as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at CSU. During his tenure, Weir has led the men's team to eight Horizon League titles, including the last five, and guided the women's team to its first League title in program history in 2017.

In his 11 seasons at the helm, Weir has developed 28 All-Horizon League players, including Jake Scott who claimed medalist honors at the League championship in 2008 and 2009, Kent Monas, the 2011 Horizon League Player of the Year, Andrew Bailey who was the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Horizon League Player of the Year and Anton Krecic who was the medalist at the 2017 Horizon League Championship and the runner-up this year.

A former standout for the CSU men's team, Moore will take over as the head women's coach for the Vikings. He served as an assistant coach during the 2018 Horizon League Championship in Florida, helping the women's squad to a third place finish.

Moore lettered four times (2013-16) at CSU, helping the Vikings to Horizon League Championships in each of his last three seasons. In 2015, Moore finished fourth at the League Championship to earn a spot on the all-tournament team.

Moore played 103 rounds during his career, posting a 76.2 scoring average with four top-10 finishes. As a junior, Moore opened the Marshall Invitational with a 65, which is the second lowest round in school history.
