Men's Golf Opens Play at NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team shot an opening round 309 and is in 12th place after the first day of the NCAA Columbus Regional that is being played at the par-71, 7,364-yard Scarlet Course at Ohio State.

Freshman Jules Blakely is tied for 30th place after a first round 75, while senior Joey Krecic and freshman Zak Supelak both shot 77 and are tied for 51st. Junior Anton Krecic shot 80 today and is in 67th, while senior Blake Prince is in 74th after an 86.

The Vikings are just 12 shots out of sixth place in a regional that features nine teams ranked in the top-50.

Top-ranked Oklahoma State shot 281 and holds a one shot lead over UNLV. Illinois is in third at 284, while Northwestern is in fourth place at 292, one shot ahead of fifth place Penn State.

Texas Tech is in sixth place at 297 and is followed by Wake Forest (299), Louisville and Jacksonville (300) who are tied for eighth, Michigan State (303), Tennessee (306), CSU (309) and Yale (312).

The top five teams after 54 holes advance to the NCAA Championships in late May.

The Vikings will play Tuesday's second round with Michigan State and Tennessee and will tee off on the 10th tee between 8:55 am and 9:39 am.
