Men's Golf in Second Place After Opening Round of Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Cleveland State men's golf team shot an opening round 303 and is in second place at the Horizon League Championship that began on Sunday at the par-71, 6,670-yard El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort.

The Vikings are six shots behind first round leader Wright State, which shot 297 in the first round, while Northern Kentucky is one shot behind the Vikings in third place at 304. IUPUI is in fourth place at 305 and is followed by Oakland (307), Green Bay (309), Youngstown State (311) and Detroit Mercy (318) in the tightly contested leaderboard.

CSU senior Blake Prince is tied for sixth place overall after a first round 74, while junior Anton Krecic and senior Joey Krecic both shot 76 and are tied for 13th. Junior Nick Infanti is tied for 15th place at 77 and freshman Zak Supelak shot 81 and is tied for 31st.

The Vikings led the field in par four scoring in the opening round (4.25) and was third with 51 pars.

Joey Krecic was tied for third in the field with three birdies today, while Prince and Anton Krecic both made 12 pars, tied for third best among all players.

The second round will be played on Monday with the Vikings teeing off in the final pairing with Northern Kentucky and Wright State. CSU's five players will tee off every 10 minutes beginning at 9:10 am.
