CSU MEN'S GOLF NOTES

  • The Cleveland State men's golf team travels to Florida for the 2018 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship, while will be played from Sunday through Tuesday (April 22-24) at the par-72, 6,768-yard Mission Inn Resort El Campeon Course.
  • The Vikings have won four straight Horizon League titles and eight of the last 12 overall.
  • At last year's championship, the Vikings shot an opening round 294 and led wire-to-wire, using a final rond 291 to defeat Oakland by seven shots.
  • Anton Krecic became the seventh Viking to earn medalist honors at the League championship, winning the individual title in a playoff.
  • The Vikings have posted a 300.3 scoring average this year and captured the CSU Invitational (Oct. 2-3). It was CSU's first in-season tournament victory since the Vikings claimed the Wildcat Invitational in 2016 (March 28-29).
  • CSU competed in the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational (April 2-3) at Chambers Bay GC, site of the 2015 US Open.
  • The Vikings posted a fourth place finish at the Joe Faeganes Marshall Invitational (Sept. 11-12), which included a final round 280, tied for the third lowest round in program history.
  • The winner of the Horizon League Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championships, while will be contested from May 14-16.
  • Regional sites include Raleigh, North Carolina (Lonnie Poole Golf Course), Bryan, Texas (Traditions Club), Columbus, Ohio (Scarlet Course/OSU Golf Course), Kissimmee, Florida (Reunion Resort), Norman, Oklahoma (Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club) and Stockton, California (The Reserve at Spanos Park).
  • The selection show will take place on Wednesday (May 2) at 5:30 pm and will be broadcast live on The Golf Channel.

Ranks 18th in Horizon League with a 75.9 average... has been part of last three League championship teams, finishing 19th as a freshman and sophomore and 13th last year... has played all 26 rounds this year... season-low round of 67 is tied for team low and tied for third lowest by a League player this year... tied for 23rd at Turning Stone Intercollegiate (Spet. 3-4), including a second round 69... shot back-to-back rounds of 72 to tie for 24th at Marshall Invitational (Sept. 11-12)... opened with rounds of 67-69 to tie for 24th at Eastern Kentucky Invitational (Sept. 16-17)... shot a final round 73 at Seattle U Redhawk Invitational (April 2-3)... tied for 42nd at Penn State Invitational (April 14-15) with rounds of 74-73-77 (224)... ranks eighth in program history with a 75.2 career scoring average.

Has a 76.5 scoring average this year, ranking 27th in the League... has played in 22 events with two rounds of par or better... tied for 24th at Marshall Invitational (Sept. 11-12) with rounds of 73-71... fired a final round 72 at Eastern Kentucky Invitational (Sept. 17)... tied for 14th at Dayton Flyer Invitational (Oct. 16-17), shooting 74-76-70 (220)... was a four-time state qualifier at Walsh Jesuit HS who earned All-Ohio honors as a senior.
