Men's Golf Opens Play at USF Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - The Cleveland State men's golf team shot rounds of 301 and 323 and is in seventh place out of 11 teams after the opening day of the USF Invitational that began on Monday at the par-72, 7,004-yard Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club.

Senior Joey Krecic paced the Vikings on day one, carding rounds of 73-78 and is tied for 12th place with a 151 total. Junior Anton Krecic and freshman Jules Blakely both shot 74-82 (156) and are tied for 26th place, while freshman Zach Robbins shot 80-82 (162) and is tied for 49th place. Senior Blake Prince is tied for 52nd place after the opening two rounds (83-81 - 164).

Blakely and Joey Krecic both had six birdies on the first day, tied for the fourth most in the field, while Anton Krecic's 22 pars were the most by a Viking and tied for fifth most in the field.

Joey Krecic was also one of just 11 players in the 66 player field to play the par-fives in under par as he was one-under-par today.

The event concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
