Vikings Conclude Fall Season at Dayton Flyer Invitational

KETTERING, Ohio - Cleveland State shot a final round 292 and finished sixth of 11 teams at the Dayton Flyer Invitational to conclude the fall season. The event was played at the par-71, 7,055-yard NCR Country Club.

The Vikings opened the tournament with rounds of 296 and 294 on Monday and were in sixth place after 36 holes.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Anton Krecic posted his third top-10 finish of the fall and was CSU's top finisher for the fifth time in as many events. He tied for ninth placeat 219 with rounds of 72-73-74
  • Freshman Zak Supelak fired a one-under-par 70 today - the third lowest final round of the tournament - and moved up 19 spots to finish tied for 14th place. He had a 220 total (74-76-70), while his round of 70 today was a season-low.
  • Senior Joey Krecic also tied for 14th place with rounds of 75-71-74 (220), while junior Nick Infanti tied for 32nd place at 224 (75-75-74).
  • Joey Krecic played the par-three's in two-under-par (2.83), which was tied for the best in the field, while Anton Krecic was tied for 11th on par-three scoring (3.08; +1).
  • Anton Krecic was also three-under-par (4.67) on the par-five's, tied for seventh best in the tournament.
  • Infanti made 36 pars in the tournament, tied for eighth most, while Anton Krecic's 10 birdies were tied for the second most.
  • Joey Krecic was one of six players to make an eagle during the event.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Vikings ranked second among all teams with a 3.12 (+7) average on the par three's.
  • CSU was also third best on par five's, playing them in four-under-par (4.91).
  • The Vikings made 35 birdies as a team, fourth most among the field.
  • CSU finished the fall season with a 293.9 scoring average.

  • The Vikings are slated to open the spring season at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Feb. 26-27 in Hilton Head, S.C.
