Vikings Host First Two Rounds of CSU Invitational

AURORA, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team opened play in the CSU Invitational on Monday, carding rounds of 297 and 298 and is in third place out of nine teams. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,134 yard Barrington CC.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Nick Infanti is in fifth place overall after rounds of 75 and one-under-par 71. In the opening round, Infanti led the field in par three scoring, playing them in one-under-par. He was one-under-par on the par four's in round two, third best in the field. In addition, Infanti posted six birdies in the afternoon round, tops in the field.
  • Junior Anton Krecic is tied for sixth place overall. He shot a first round even-par 72 and carded a 75 in the afternoon round.
  • Freshman Zach Robbins, playing as an individual, shot back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 and is in third place overall with a 144 total. Robbins made 27 pars today, including 14 in the second round which was the second most in the field.
  • Freshman Zak Supelak, who is also playing as an individual, is tied for 18th place after rounds of 74-76 (150).

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Vikings are in third place with a 595 total after two rounds, five shots behind second place Oakland.
  • Appalachian State leads the tournament with a 586 total, while Tripp Summerlin shot 73-68 (141) and leads after two rounds.
  • CSU combined for 29 birdies today, tied for most by any team.
  • The Vikings' 16 birdies in the second round were the most in the field.
