Luth, Anton Krecic and Weir Earn All-Horizon League Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State senior Patrick Luth (Medina, Ohio), sophomore Anton Krecic (Columbia Station, Ohio) and head coach Steve Weir each earned All-Horizon League honors that were announced on Saturday night at the banquet on the eve of the League Championship that begins on Sunday.

Luth earned a spot on the all-league first team, while Krecic was voted to the second team. Weir picked up Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time in his 10 seasons as head coach.

Luth, who is making his first appearance on the all-league team, leads the team and ranks second in the Horizon League with a 72.3 scoring average, which is currently tied with Andrew Bailey (2013-14) for the lowest average in a season in school history. Luth has fired 16 rounds of par or better this year, posting five top-10 finishes, including three top-five's.

His 65 at the Marshall Invitational is tied for the lowest round by a League player this year and he has been CSU's top finisher at six of the 10 events this year, including a win at the Wildcat Invitational (March 28-29).

Luth finished third at last year's Horizon League Championship, earning a spot on the all-tournament team.

Krecic is second on the team and sixth in the League with a 74.1 scoring average. He has three top-10 finishes this year with six rounds of par or better, including a season-low round of 68.

Weir was honored as the Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career, also earning the award in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2016. He has overseen one of his deepest and most consistent teams with the squad posting a 293.6 scoring average. It is currently the lowest for a season in school history (last year's team holds the record at 295.3).

The Horizon League Championship will run from Sunday through Tuesday (April 23-25) at Mission Inn Resort in Florida. The winner of the Horizon League Championship will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals which will run from May 15-17 in Auburn, Wash., Austin, Texas, Baton Rouge, La., College Grove, Tenn., Stanford, Calif., and West Lafayette, Ind.
