Vikings Return to Action at Seahawk Intercollegiate

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team returns to action at the Seahawk Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday (March 18-19) at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

The Seahawk Intercollegiate will be the third of five spring tournaments for the Vikings leading up to the Horizon League Championship at the end of April in Florida.

The Vikings were last in action on March 6-7 when CSU placed eighth at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton S.C. CSU opened with rounds of 307 and 306 before shooting a final round 298 which was the third lowest round of the day in the 11 team field.

Sophomore Anton Krecic shot rounds of 77-77-73 (227) to pace the Vikings as he tied for 23rd place, while senior Patrick Luth was one shot back and tied for 26th place. Luth carded rounds of 74-78-76 (228).

Junior Joey Krecic carded a final round two-under-par 70 for the low round of the tournament for the Vikings.

Luth continues to lead the Vikings and the Horizon League with a 71.9 scoring average and has finished in the top-10 in three events this year. He also has the lowest round of the season by a Viking with a 65.

Anton Krecic is second on the team with a 73.9 average, while Blake Prince has posted a 74.5 average. Joey Krecic has a 74.7 average this year, while Nick Infanti has a 75.8 scoring average.

As a team, the Vikings are averaging 293.2 this year, putting CSU on pace to break the school record of 295.3 set last season.

CSU is back in action on March 27-28 at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational in Malvern, Pa. The Vikings are the defending champs of the event.
