Vikings Return to Action at Colleton River Collegiate

CLEVELAD, Ohio - The Cleveland State mens's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (March 6-7) at the Colleton River Collegiate, which is being hosted by Michigan State in Bluffton, S.C.

The 54-hole event will be played at the par=72, 7,151-yard Colleton River Club. Located along the Atlantic Ocean in Bluffton, South Carolina, the Colleton River Club hosted the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. The Pete Dye Course, which opened in 1998, is a links-type course with unobstructed views of Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean on 11 of 18 holes.

In addition to hosting the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur, Colleton River's Pete Dye Course has hosted eight USGA qualifiers since 2005, including three U.S. Opens, four U.S. Amateurs and one U.S. Senior Open. The course also has held the South Carolina Amateur Championship in 2001 and 2011.

In addition to CSU and host Michigan State, the field includes Cincinnati, Miami (OH), UConn, UAB, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Memphis, Penn and Horizon League member Oakland.

This will be CSU's second tournament of the spring season after the Vikings placed sixth of 18 teams at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 27-28). After and opening round 307, the Vikings shot 291 and 294 to close the tournament.

The five CSU players were separated by just five shots in the final standings.

Senior Patrick Luth tied for 19th place with rounds of 79-74-70 (223) and earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors. Luth leads the League with a 71.0 scoring average and has shot par or better in 13 of his 18 rounds this year.

Junior Blake Prince tied for 26th place at the Wexford Intercollegiate with rounds of 75-74-75 (224), while sophomore Anton Krecic shot 77-73-75 (224) and also tied for 26th place.

Prince and Krecic are tied for second on the team with a 73.0 average this year, while Joey Krecic is averaging 74.0 and Nick Infanti posts a 75.0 scoring average.

The Vikings return to action on March 19-20 at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C.
