Vikings Finish Sixth at First Event of Spring Season

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Cleveland State shot a final round 294 and moved up one spot to finish sixth of 18 teams at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate the concluded on Tuesday at The Wexford Plantation course, an Arnold Palmer signature course, which measures 6,913 yards and is a par 72 layout.

CSU's 294 in the final round was the second lowest round of the day, just one shot off the 293 shot by Gardner-Webb, Winthrop and Francis Marion.

The Vikings had opened the tournament with rounds of 307 and 291 on Monday.

Senior Patrick Luth carded a final round two-under-par 70 and tied for 19th place to lead the Vikings. His round included a five-under-par 31 on the back nine where Luth had four straight birdies from holes 15 through 18.

Luth finished with a 54 hole total of 223 (79-74-70).

Junior Blake Prince was one shot behind Luth and tied for 24th place at 224 (75-74-75), while sophomor Anton Krecic shot rounds of 77-73-75 (225) and tied for 26th place. Junior Joey Krecic tied for 34th place at 227 (79-70-78).

Gardner-Webb won the team title with a 54 hole total of 882, while Winthrop was the runner-up at 886. USC_Aiken and Radford tied for third at 888, while Akron was fifth and 891 and CSU sixth at 892.

CSU returns to action at the at Colleton River Collegiate on March 6-7 in Bluffton, S.C.
