Krecic Tied for Second; Vikings in Fifth After First Day of Kenny Perry Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Sophomore Anton Krecic shot back-to-back rounds of two-under-par 70 and is tied for second after the first day of the Kenny Perry Invitational. The Vikings are in fifth place out of 12 teams.

The event is being played at the par-72, 7,219 The Club at Olde Stone with Western Kentucky serving as the host school.

TEAM NOTES
• The Vikings shot rounds of 296 and 291 to open the tournament today. CSU was in fourth place after the first round and dropped one spot following the afternoon round.
• CSU got off to a slow start, shooting a nine-over-par on the opening nine. However, the Vikings used a three-under-par total on the back nine to climb the scoreboard in the morning round.
• The Vikings made eight birdies and an eagle on the back nine in the morning round.
• CSU used three rounds of par or better in the afternoon to post a three-over-par 291.
 
• Eastern Kentucky leads the tournament with a 36-hole total of 571. Host Western Kentucky is five shots back at 576, while Jacksonville State (582), Mercer (586) and CSU (587) round out the top-five. 

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Anton Krecic shot consecutive rounds of two-under-par 70 and is tied for second place in the 69 player field.
• Krecic played the back nine in a combined seven-under-par, shooting a combined 65. He made an eagle two on the 347-yard 14th hole in the first round to go along with six birdies on the back nine over the two rounds.
• Krecic, who has now shot par or better in five consecutive rounds, is just one shot behind Billy Tom Sargent of Western Kentucky who shot 70-69 (139).
• Junior Joey Krecic is also in the top-10 after rounds of 73-72 (145) have him tied for seventh place.
 
• After a 40 on the opening nine, Krecic made four birdies and a bogey on the inward nine in the morning to finish with a 73. He made three birdies in the afternoon en route to an even-par 72.
• Senior Patrick Luth followed an opening round 79 with a one-under-par 71 in the afternoon. 

UP NEXT
• The final round of the Kenny Perry Invitational will be played on Tuesday.
• It will be the final round of the fall season for the Vikings.
