CLEVELAND (AP) - Mike Monserez hit a 12-foot jumper with one-tenth of a second remaining to lift Butler to a 57-56 win over Cleveland State on Thursday night, extending the Vikings' school-record losing streak to 18.

The winning basket would have been a buzzer beater, except the buzzer didn't sound and the red light on the backboard did not light up to show time had expired.

The referees concluded Monserez got the shot off in time and put one-tenth of a second on the clock. Cleveland State's desperation toss down the court ended the game.

The Vikings, who opened the season winning four of six, dropped to 4-20, 0-13 in the Horizon League.

Cleveland State shot 53 percent from the floor but went only 7-of-20 at the foul line.

Duane Lightfoot scored 17 points for the Bulldogs (11-11, 6-6).

Omari Westley, who led Cleveland State with 19 points, hit a jumper with 1:56 left to tie the score 52-all. Monserez hit a 3-pointer with 1:11 remaining, and Westley hit a jumper to cut Butler's lead to 55-54.

Jermain Robinson put in a layup with 16 seconds left to put Cleveland State ahead for the last time.

Butler point guard Avery Sheets left the game with a concussion early in the second half.
