CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State Men's Basketball Head Coach Dennis Gates announced today the addition of Rosbie Mutcherson Jr. to the team's coaching staff, joining the Vikings as Director of Video Operations. Mutcherson replaces Steven Wright who accepted an assistant coach position with the Bowling Green State University men's basketball program in May.

"I'm very excited to announce Rosbie Mutcherson has joined our coaching staff," said Vikings head coach and 2019-20 Horizon League Coach of the Year Dennis Gates. "Rosbie brings great basketball knowledge and coaching experiences that have prepared him to excel as a Division I video coordinator and beyond. He has a great balance of avidity, love and patience required to develop our student-athletes. We are hiring a future star."

Mutcherson comes to Cleveland State after one year as an assistant men's basketball coach at Salt Lake Community College. In his sole year at SLCC, the Bruins notched an overall record of 29-4 (.879), including stringing together a 15-game winning streak, a perfect 12-0 (1.000) record in conference play and nabbed the district title in a 101-73 win over Eastern AZ College on March 7, 2020.

"First, I'd like to thank Coach Kyle Taylor and the entire Salt Lake Community College staff for the great memories," said Mutcherson. "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity Coach Gates has given me to learn from him and his staff. There are a lot of great junior college coaches who have gone on to become successful Division I head coaches and I strive to follow in their footsteps."

Prior to his time at Salt Lake City Community College, the Martinez, Georgia, native spent two years as an assistant coach at Northwest Florida State College. During his time at NWF, Mutcherson won back-to-back Region 8 and Panhandle Conference championships, with a combined conference record of 20-4 (.833) over those two seasons, including two Elite 8 appearances.

A graduate of Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, Mutcherson played four years for the Scots, earning his bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014 before receiving his master's in Business Administration from Crown College in 2019.
