BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Junior Craig Beaudion scored 10 points and Cleveland State turned in a strong second-half effort, but the Vikings fell to Bowling Green 72-58 on Sunday in the Stroh Center.

The game wrapped up a series of three consecutive games in which the Vikings faced off against a Mid-American Conference opponent as Cleveland State faced Toledo, Kent State and Bowling Green in succession.

For the second straight game, Cleveland State turned in a solid second half but was unable to overcome a halftime deficit.

The Vikings outscored Bowling Green 34-32 in the second half and outshot the Falcons 50.0 percent to 48.1 percent. Cleveland State also held a 34-30 advantage in rebounding for the game and held a 42-30 advantage on points in the paint, but it was not enought to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit.

Beaudion finished the game 5-of-11 from the floor and also added four assists, three rebounds and a steal. It marked his fifth double-figure scoring game of the season.

Cleveland State, which dropped to 4-7 on the season, also got nine points and four rebounds from Deante Johnson and eight points and eight rebounds from Algevon Eichelberger.

Torrey Patton provided four points, four rebounds and a steal, while Hugo Ferreira added six points, three rebounds and a team-high four steals.

Cleveland State trailed by 24 points early in the second half before storming back to make things interesting.

Patton jump started a 13-2 Vikings run with a strong inside move that cut the lead to 62-40 at the 9:43 mark of the second period.

Ferreira made a free throw and Johnson scored on a fastbreak layup to bring Cleveland State within 62-43 with 7:37 remaining in the game.

Ferreira converted a layup, notched a steal and fed Beaudion for another layup that cut the lead to 62-47 with 6:33 left in the second half.

After a Bowling Green basket, the Vikings countered with buckets from Jaalam Hill and Beaudion to climb to within 64-51 at the 5:57 mark of the second period.

Cleveland State eventually trimmed the lead to 12 points, but that would be as close as the Vikings would get.

Cleveland State returns to the Wolstein Center on Wednesday (Dec. 18) as it hosts DePaul at 7 p.m.
