CLEVELAND -- Freshman Hugo Ferreira scored 12 points and junior Craig Beaudion added 11 points as Cleveland State hosted Florida International as a part of the Battle for the Capital Tournament on Tuesday in the Wolstein Center. The Panthers placed five players in double figures on their way to a 107-61 victory over the Vikings.

Ferreira finished the game 3-of-8 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line to pace the Vikings in scoring. He also added one rebound, an assist and a steal.

Beaudion was 4-of-8 from the field, which included making 3-of-5 three-point attempts, to finish second on the team with 11 points. Beaudion also had two assists and two steals in 22 minutes of play.

Cleveland State, which dropped to 1-4 on the season, shot 80.8 percent from the floor for the game making 21-of-26 shots from the line. The 80.8 percent shooting from the foul line marked the Vikings second-best effort of the season behind only the 81.8 percent shooting at Minnesota.

The Vikings recorded only 14 turnovers for the game, which was the second-lowest total of the season. Cleveland State had only nine turnovers in its victory over Edinboro in the Wolstein Center.

Cleveland State put together a solid stretch of basketball early in the second half as the Vikings outscored the Panthers 16-10 over nearly an eight-minute stretch.

The Vikings put together a 9-0 run, which featured baskets by Franklyn Penn Jr., Beaudion and free throws from Tre Gomillion and Daylen Williams.

FIU, which improved to 2-2 on the season, shot 53.4 percent from the floor and 52.8 percent from the three-point line. The Panthers made 19-of-36 three-point attempts for the game. Devon Andrews led five players in double figure scoring with 16 points, while Eric Lovett added 14 points.

Cleveland State will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete in the remaining two games of the Battle for the Capital Tournament. The Vikings will face UNC Wilmington on Friday (Nov. 22) at 1 p.m. and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be played in the Entertainment & Sports Arena.
