- A 13-7 run by Oakland tied the contest (18-18) at the 7:36 mark, but CSU responded with its own run, opening up its largest advantage of the half (31-22) on an Edwards jumper with 3:41 on the clock.

- The Golden Grizzlies pulled back within three points (45-42), but Edwards drained back-to-back three pointers and Thomas hit a mid-range jumper, giving CSU a 53-44 lead midway through the second half and forcing an Oakland timeout.
- The lead reached 10 points (56-46) on an Edwards three-point play with just over eight minutes to play, but Oakland responded with two straight baskets to pull within six (56-50).
