CLEVELAND, Ohio – Demonte Flannigan recorded his sixth career double-double, but Cleveland State dropped its Horizon League road opener on Thursday night at Wright State, 55-51.

CSU fell to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League, while the Raiders moved to 11-5 (2-1 HL).

STAT LEADERS

• Flannigan led all scorers with 17 points, hitting 6-of-11 from the field and all four of his free throws. He added a team-high 10 rebounds.
• Bobby Word scored 14 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers.
• Rob Edward, Derek Sloan and Kasheem Thomas all finished with five points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first half featured nine ties and 11 lead changes as both teams struggled to find a rhythm from the floor.
• Neither team led by more than three points over the first 20 minutes.
• Flannigan recorded first half highs of nine points and five rebounds as the Vikings trailed by one point (24-23) at halftime.
• The Raiders built a seven point lead (37-30) four minutes into the second half, but a free throw from Word cut the lead to three points (37-34) at the 11:56 mark.
• WSU extended the lead to six points on three more occasions, the final time coming on a Mike LaTulip three-pointer with 2:11 to play that gave the Raiders a 53-47 advantage.
• Flannigan and Carpenter answered with baskets to cut the deficit to two points (53-51) with less than one minute to play.
• A steal by the Vikings was followed by a Raider foul, but Carpenter missed the front end of a one-and-one. However, the Raiders knocked the ball out of bounds, giving CSU another chance
• However, Edwards' 18 footer was off the mark and Justin Mitchell knocked down two free throws with 11 seconds left to give the Raiders a four point lead.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Tonight's game was the 350^th career game at CSU for head coach Gary Waters. He is 190-160 during his 11 seasons at CSU.
• Waters' 350 career games at CSU are second most in school history, trailing Ray Dieringer's 360 games.
• CSU scored 20 points off 19 Raider turnovers, while WSU held a 35-22 advantage on the glass.
• The Vikings held WSU to 14-of-40 (.350) from the field, but the Raiders went to the free throw line 28 times and made 22.
• CSU hit 17-of-46 (.370) from the field and was 13-of-19 at the charity stripe.
