Gebbett Takes Gold at CSU Fall Open

Cleveland, Ohio – Junior Matthew Gebbett highlighted the beginning of the Cleveland State University fencing season this past weekend at the CSU Fall Open.

Gebbett won the Open Saber competition to take home the gold medal.

In the open foil competition, sophomore Adam Mack took third place while classmate Alex Hoirup placed seventh. Associated Head Coach Andy Tulleners also was among the top four in the Open Foil discipline.

Junior Logan Shoemaker was ninth in the Open Epee competition to lead the CSU contingent. Freshman Vincenzo Trovato was also among the top 16 in that event.

Cleveland State will next be in action Oct. 15-16 as it competes in the OSU Collegaite Open and the OSU Duals at Ohio State.
