CLEVELAND STATE SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Mission Statement
The Cleveland State University Sports Performance Program is an integral piece of the overall performance and wellness program for student-athletes. The primary focus is building the total athlete for athletic performance and reducing the risk of injury. The pillars of the total athlete include strength, power, mobility, flexibility, agility, speed, quickness, and aerobic and anaerobic capacity. Those pillars of the program are built on a foundation that is focused on nutrition education and mental well-being.

Training Philosophy
Our training philosophy incorporated here at Cleveland State University is that of a multi-disciplined periodization approach. Our program is a planned, diversified training program implementing various disciplines into a structured training program. Variations are made throughout the program to ensure long-term incremental improvement. Diversification and structure of the mode, frequency, duration, intensity, and consistency while taking into consideration factors for lack of progress are paramount to the improvement and ultimately maximizing the student athletes’ athletic performance.
