A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics... 

Women's Soccer
-The Vikings (1-0-1) will continue the 2019 campaign with a pair of matches this weekend, beginning a four-match roadswing at Ohio (Friday, August 30) and at Miami (Ohio) (Sunday, September 1).
-Cleveland State opened the year with a 1-0-1 record, including a 2-1 double overtime victory over Akron in the home opener with junior Elena Gutlove scoring the golden goal.
-Junior Stevie Holbrook made a career-high 11 saves in a 0-0 draw against Kent State.
-Cleveland State won its home opener for the second consecutive season, and opened the season with an unblemished record for the fifth time in school history.

Men's Soccer
-Cleveland State opens the 2019 regular season this Friday, August 30, at No. 14 Louisville.
-The Vikings will be under the direction of first-year head coach Sinisa Ubiparipovic.
-CSU contested a trio of exhibition matches in the preseason, facing off against St. Bonaventure, Notre Dame (Ohio) and Saint Francis (Pa.). 

Volleyball
-Cleveland State will kickoff the 2019 campaign at the Panther Challenge this weekend, facing a challenging lineup at the two-day tournament.
-The Vikings will open the weekend against No. 12 Pittsburgh (Friday, August 30), and will then take on South Carolina (Saturday, August 31) and Cincinnati (Saturday, August 31) – who are both receiving votes.
-The Vikings are under the direction of 20-year head coach Chuck Voss, and return nine letterwinners from last year's team, including All-League honorees Trinniti Hall, Emily DeGeorge, Hannah Greene, and Christina Grecol.

Cross Country
-The Vikings will begin the 2019 season this weekend, taking part in the Queen City Invitational on Saturday, August 31. The women's 5K race is slated for a 9:45 a.m. start in Highland Heights, Ky.
-Jason Hudson enters his second season as the head coach, and has a squad that features nine returners and four newcomers.
-Among the returners are Anna Brandt and Jessica Finley, who own nine of the top-25 times on the CSU 5K and 6K record list. 

Men's Golf
-The Cleveland State men's golf team will open the 2019-20 season at the Turning Stone-Tiger Intercollegiate at the Kaluhyat Golf Club at Turning Stone in Verona, N.Y.
-The Vikings will compete over 54 holes beginning on Sunday (September 1) and concluding with 18 holes on Monday (September 2).
-The Vikings return Zach Robbins, Jules Blakely, Zak Supelak and Jack Hanus, while Jonny Filler, David Laib and Gunnar McCollins are new to the team this season.

Women's Golf
-The Cleveland State women's golf team will participate in the Roseann Schwartz Invitational at the Mill Creek Golf Course to open the 2019-20 season beginning on Monday (September 2).
-The Vikings will compete over 36 holes on the Mill Creek course in Boardman, Ohio. Teams will play 18 holes on Monday and the tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday (September 3).
-Senior Rayna Oosterhuis, juniors Ashley Knight, Madison Butler and Amanda Baker along with sophomores Meg Rossouw and Grace Zimmerman return for the Vikings.

Viking Of The Week
Stevie Holbrook, Women's Soccer
The junior led the Vikings to a 1-0-1 week to begin the 2019 campaign. She recorded a career-high 11 saves in the 0-0 draw at Kent State in the season opener, and then added six saves in the 2-1 win against Akron in the home opener. For the week, she posted a 0.41 goals against average and had a .944 save percentage through the two matches.
