A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Women's Basketball
- Cleveland State (7-12, 4-4) will close out the first half of Horizon League play this weekend, traveling to Youngstown State for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, January 26 in its lone game of the week.
- Last time out, the Vikings split their games against Northern Kentucky and Wright State, as they picked up a 76-47 victory over the Norse on their fifth annual kids day game, and dropped a 70-65 contest against the Raiders.
- Junior Mariah Miller enters the week ranked second among Horizon League players averaging 16.1 points per game, and has now recorded double-digit points in all but one game she has played in including a pair of 21 and 15-point performances last week.

Men's Basketball
- The Vikings (5-16, 0-8) will wrap up the first round of Horizon League action this weekend, hosting Youngstown State on Saturday, January 26.
- Entering the week, Tyree Appleby ranks sixth among Horizon League players averaging 17.4 points per game, and is one of just seven #HLMBB players to average 17.0+ points per game.

Men's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State closes the regular season this Saturday, January 26, as it welcomes Oakland in dual action at 2:00 p.m.
- The Vikings were off from competition this past week and had split four dual matchups with IUPUI and UIC the week prior.

Women's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State closes the regular season this Saturday, January 26, as it welcomes Oakland in dual action at 2:00 p.m.
- The Vikings did not compete this past week after having their meet at Marshall canceled due to the winter weather.
- Molly McNamara was named the HL Swimmer of the Week last week after winning four events across two meets at IUPUI. 

Wrestling
- Cleveland State opens the home portion of its Eastern Wrestling League slate this Sunday, January 27, when it hosts Bloomsburg at 1:00 p.m.
- The Vikings dropped a 24-13 decision at Edinboro in their only action last week.
- Redshirt freshman Brady Barnett registered a win by fall at 149 pounds, his sixth pin of the season.

Lacrosse
- Cleveland State unofficially kicks off its season this week by hosting a pair of scrimmages Saturday, January 26.
- The Vikings welcome The Hill Academy and The Edge in scrimmage action.

Men's Tennis
- The Vikings (0-2) will continue their season-opening roadswing this weekend, traveling to Penn (Friday, January 25) and Temple (Saturday, January 26) for a pair of matches this weekend.
- Last week, Cleveland State opened the 2019 spring season with a doubleheader at No. 2 Ohio State, where Luke Phillips played a pair of unfinished matches at No. 3 singles, and Nico Mostardi was up a set on the 13th-ranked singles player at the top of the lineup before the match was halted. 

Women's Tennis
- Cleveland State will begin its 2019 spring slate this weekend, hosting St. Bonaventure in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on Sunday, January 27.
- The Vikings return three letterwinners from last year's squad, and welcomed three transfers and two freshmen during the fall season, and will be under the direction of first-year head coach Frank Polito.
- 2019 marks the fourth year for the Vikings in the MMTP, with Cleveland State owning a 23-8 record when playing at home during this span.

Indoor Track & Field
- The Vikings will continue their eight-meet indoor season this weekend, participating in the Spire Invitational on Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26.
- Last time out, the Vikings had a strong showing at the YSU Collegiate Invitational, with Anna Brandt posting Cleveland State's best finish when she placed second overall in the Mile Run (5:00.74).

2019 Hall of Fame
- Tickets are now on sale for the 41st annual Cleveland State Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, February 16.
- The 2019 Hall of Fame class includes J'Nathan Bullock (Men's Basketball), Kailey Klein (Women's Basketball) and Phil Orno (Men's Tennis).

Viking of the Week
Anna Brandt, Indoor Track & Field
The sophomore posted Cleveland State's best individual finish at the YSU Collegiate Invitational, placing second overall in the Mile Run with a time of 5:00.74. Brandt's time was just shy of breaking her CSU record (5:00.24) that she set earlier this season, while she also paced the Vikings in the 500 Meter Run last weekend.
