A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Men's Soccer
- Cleveland State (3-5-1, 1-2-1 HL) will close its road trip Monday, October 8, at Pittsburgh before returning home with a Horizon League fixture against IUPUI Saturday, October 13.
- The Vikings dispatched Ohio State, 2-0, this past Friday with Lawrence Karpeh and Zack Kluever tallying the goals.
- It was the first win for the Vikings over the Buckeyes since 1996.
- CSU's midweek match at Duquesne this past week was halted at halftime due to weather in the area with the match scoreless.

Women's Soccer
- Cleveland State (8-4-1, 4-0-1) will close out its current three-match homestand on Saturday, October 13, hosting Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m.
- Last time out, the Vikings recorded their fifth shutout of the season - and third straight - with a 5-0 victory over Green Bay. With the win, the Vikings remained as one of three league teams to be undefeated this season, and enter the week tied for second in the league standings with NKU.
- The Vikings' five goals against the Phoenix marked the seventh 5+ goal match in program history.
- Dani Sowinski tallied her seventh assist of the season last time out, tying the program record for single-season helpers which was set back during the 2006 season.

Volleyball
- Cleveland State (12-6, 6-0) will continue its current roadswing with a pair of #HLVB matches this weekend, traveling to Green Bay on Friday, October 12 and UIC on Saturday, October 13.
- Last time out, the Vikings picked up a 3-0 sweep over IUPUI and a 3-1 victory at Milwaukee, extending their current winstreak to six matches and remaining undefeated in league play.
- The 6-0 start to #HLVB play is a program best for the Vikings, while they enter the fourth week of regular season league play at the top of the standings.

Cross Country
- The Vikings will return to action at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic on Friday (October 12), with the women's 5K race slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
- This will be Cleveland State's fourth race of the season, and the final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship at the end of the month.
- Last time out, Anna Brandt set a program record on the 6K course, finishing ninth individually at the All-Ohio Championship in a time of 21:56.

Men's Golf
- Cleveland State hosts the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club this Monday and Tuesday, October 8-9.
- Eleven teams will be competing over the 54-hole event, including seven of the eight HL schools that sponsor men's golf.
- The Vikings finished in 15th place at the Firestone Invitational this past week while competing at the event for the first time.
- Sophomore Zak Supelak was CSU's top finisher with a new 54-hole career low of 218.

Women's Golf
- Cleveland State will continue the fall season at Eastern Michigan's Shirley Spork Invitational October 8-9 before closing the fall at the MAC Preview October 14-15.
- Sophomore Madison Butler tied for third last time out at the Golden Grizzly Invitational and leads the team with a 75.0 average.

Men's Tennis
- Cleveland State will have the week off from competition, returning to the courts for the ITA Midwest Regional, which begins on Wednesday, October 17 in South Bend, Ind.
- Last time out, the Vikings brought home two titles from the Purdue Fall Invitational, with Clark Bilinovich capturing the E Singles Flight title and the doubles team of Matthew Terry and Raul Teichmann winning the C Doubles Flight.

Women's Tennis
- The Vikings will be out of action until next weekend, when they take part in the West Virginia Invitational which runs from Friday, October 19 - Sunday, October 21.
- Last time out, Cleveland State hosted the third annual Viking Invitational, welcoming Akron, Bowling Green and UConn for the three-day tournament.

Fencing
- Cleveland State will be out of action until early November at the Case Western Duals.
- The Vikings hosted the 13th annual Fencers Attacking Diabetes event this past weekend in Woodling Gym.
- Freshman Brodee Bocek won the D-II men's epee event while classmate Shelbie Seeberg won the D-II women's foil event.

Men's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will compete at the two-day Akron Zips Classic this Friday and Saturday, October 12-13.
- The Vikings opened the season at home on the final weekend of September with the inaugural Viking Relay Challenge.

Women's Swimming & Diving

Viking of the Week
Ja'Maya Ward, Women's Soccer
The freshman recorded a goal and an assist in Cleveland State's 5-0 victory over Green Bay, and now has four goals and four assists on the season. Ward tallied her assist on the eventual game-winner for the Vikings, while her goal gave CSU a 4-0 lead midway through the second half. As a rookie, Ward is tied for the team lead with 12 total points on the year.
