A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Men's Soccer
- Cleveland State will open a three-game non-conference road swing this week with matches against Duquesne Tuesday, October 2, and against Ohio State Friday, October 5.
- The Vikings (2-5-1, 1-2-1 HL) ended UIC's 12-match unbeaten run against Horizon League foes by beating the Flames, 3-1, this past weekend.
- Junior Vlad Jandric scored all three goals for CSU, the first hat trick by a Viking since 2013.

Women's Soccer
- The Vikings (7-4-1, 3-0-1) will continue their current three-match homestand this weekend, hosting Green Bay at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6. Entering the weekend, the Vikings own a 5-1 record at Krenzler Field this season.
- Last week, Cleveland State posted a pair of shutout victories over Youngstown State (2-0) and UIC (1-0 OT), to remain unbeaten in #HLWSOC play. This marks the best start in Horizon League play in program history, while they are one of three teams in the league to be undefeated through three weeks of action.
- Entering the month of October, Cleveland State is tied for second in the league standings with 10 total points, and is just two points out of first place.

Volleyball
- Cleveland State (10-6, 4-0) will split its time at home and on the road this weekend, hosting IUPUI on Friday, October 5 and traveling to Milwaukee on Sunday, October 7.
- Entering the third week of #HLVB play, Cleveland State sits at the top of the league standings as the only team to own a perfect league record on the year.
- Last time out, the Vikings posted 3-1 victories over Northern Kentucky and Wright State, extending their current winstreak to four straight matches.

Cross Country
- The Vikings will take a few weeks off from competition, returning to action at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic on Friday, October 12.
- Last time out, the Vikings placed 11th out of 38 teams at the All-Ohio Championship - the first 6K race of the season.
- Anna Brandt was Cleveland State's top finisher, placing ninth overall with a time of 21:56 - setting a program record on the 6K course.

Men's Golf
- Cleveland State will compete at the Firestone Intercollegiate in Akron for the first time in program history this Monday, October 1, and Tuesday, October 2.
- The Vikings were last in action September 15-16 when they finished ninth of 15 teams at the EKU Intercollegiate.
- Sophomore Zach Robbins was CSU's low finisher in that event, with a career-low 54-hole total of 214.

Women's Golf
- Cleveland State will take this week off from competition before competing in the Shirley Spork Invitational next week.
- The Vikings finished in sixth place of 12 teams at the Golden Grizzly Invitational last week with a 36-hole total of 656.
- Sophomore Madison Butler tied for third with a cumulative score of 155. It was her second top-five showing in three events.

Men's Tennis
- The Vikings will continue their fall season this week, with Nico Mostardi competing at the ITA All-American Championship and the rest of the squad traveling to the Purdue Fall Invitational.
- Nico Mostardi will begin play in the Qualifying Draw at the ITA All-American Championship Monday afternoon, and will need four straight wins to advance to the Main Draw.
- Matthew Terry finished his run at the ITA All-American Championship in the final round of the Pre-Qualifying Draw, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record to improve to 6-2 overall this season.
- Benjamin Slade picked up a pair of singles wins at the Rocket Invitational last weekend, moving into a tie for eighth place on the CSU Singles Wins List with 62 career victories.

Women's Tennis
- Cleveland State returns to action with the third annual Viking Invitational this weekend (Friday, October 5 - Sunday, October 7), welcoming Akron, Bowling Green and UConn for the three-day tournament.
- This will be the second tournament of the fall season for the Vikings, and their first appearance in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion during the 2018-19 campaign.
- Entering the weekend, sophomore Gaby Schoenberg owns a team-best 3-0 singles record on the year, while junior transfer Kateryna Avram sits at 2-1.

Fencing
- Cleveland State will host the 13th annual Fencers Attacking Diabetes event in Woodling Gym this Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7.
- The Vikings had successful starts to their dual seasons this past weekend at the OSU Duals.
- The CSU men posted a 5-1 dual record while the women's team went 4-2.

Men's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will take this week off from competition before resuming action at the Akron Zips Classic next weekend.
- Cleveland State won all eight relays contested at the season-opening Viking Relay Challenge that CSU hosted.
- The Viking men also teamed up with the women's team to win both coed relays contested.

Women's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will take this week off from competition before resuming action at the Akron Zips Classic next weekend.
- Cleveland State won four of the eight relays contested at the season-opening Viking Relay Challenge and took runner-up finishes in the other four relays.
- The Viking women also teamed up with the men's team to win both coed relays contested.

Viking of the Week
Vlad Jandric, Men's Soccer
The junior recorded a hat trick against UIC, leading the Vikings to a 3-1 victory over the first-place Flames. His hat trick marked the first in program history since the 2013 campaign, while the three goals also marked the first of the season for Jandric.
