A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

MEN'S GOLF

  • The Vikings return to action at the Penn State Rutherford Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday (April 14-15) in the final event before the Horizon League Championship.
  • CSU finished 15th at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay last week, site of the 2015 US Open.
  • Junior Anton Krecic was the teams top finisher as he tied for 18th place with a 224 total, carding rounds of 77-74-73.

WOMEN'S GOLF

  • The Vikings host the Sand Ridge Shootout on Friday at Sand Ridge GC in Mayfield, Ohio for CSU's final event before the League Championship.
  • Tee times begin at 11:00 am and the tournament will also feature Bowling Green, Niagara and Youngstown State.
  • CSU tied for sixth place out of 16 teams over the weekend at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational and was the top Horizon League team out of the five teams that played in the event.
  • Senior Emily Turski tied for 10th place with back-to-back rounds of 76 for a 152 total and was the top finishing Horizon League player.

MEN'S LACROSSE

  • Cleveland State returns to the road this weekend to face nationally ranked Robert Morris Saturday, April 14, at 7:00 pm.
  • The Vikings picked up their third win of the season this past weekend, cruising past visiting Hampton, 19-6.
  • Michael Wilson had seven points on five goals and two assists while Jack Frickleton had six points courtesy of four goals and two helpers.

SOFTBALL

  • CSU (11-19, 1-2 HL) returns to action with a three-game series at IUPUI this weekend. The Vikings play a single game on Friday (April 13) at 4:00 pm and a doubleheader on Saturday (April 14) at 12:00 pm.
  • The Vikings were out of action last week as weather forced the postponement of the weekend series against UIC.
  • CSU will now host UIC for a doubleheader on May 1 at 12:00 pm at Viking Field.

MEN'S TENNIS

  • Cleveland State (11-10, 2-1) will host its final homestand of the 2018 spring season this weekend, hosting Wright State on Saturday, April 14 and Northern Kentucky on Sunday, April 15.
  • Last time out, the Vikings dropped their first #HLMTEN contest, falling at Detroit Mercy, 4-3.
  • Entering the final homestand of the season, junior Benjamin Slade is just one win shy of recording a 20-win campaign, and just three wins shy of moving into the top-10 on the CSU Singles Wins List.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

  • The Vikings (8-11, 4-1) will host their final two matches of the season at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this weekend, hosting Wright State on Saturday, April 14 and Northern Kentucky on Sunday, April 15.
  • Cleveland State picked up back-to-back wins against Detroit Mercy (4-3) and Oakland (6-1) last time out, improving to 4-1 in Horizon League play.
  • The trio of Isabella Spindler, Aleksandra Golawska and Jana Schober went 2-0 in singles play on the weekend, with all three improving to 4-1 against league opponents on the season.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

  • Cleveland State will continue its busy outdoor season this weekend, participating in the Miami Duals on Saturday, April 14.
  • Last time out, the Vikings had a successful meet at the Bob Kahn Invitational, with eight top-three finishes, including a trio of first place finishes.
  • Lauren Zawie (400 Meter Dash) and Hannah Gaskins (High Jump) picked up the individual wins for the Vikings, while the 4x100 Relay Team of Tylar Mixon, Chan'lier Myers, Lauren Zawie, and Briah Owens won the lone relay event for Cleveland State.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Michael Wilson | Fr. | Men's Lacrosse
Wilson tallied five goals and two assists in Saturday's 19-6 win over Hampton, helping CSU set the school record for goals in a game. The seven points and five goals were program records against a Division I opponent. He now has points in each of his first 11 games and owns six straight multi-point outings, while leading the team in goals (18), assists (10) and points (28).

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

Joey Krecic | Sr. | Men's Golf
Fired a 72 in the final round at Chambers Bay, the low round of the tournament by a Viking.

Isabella Spindler | Jr. | Women's Tennis
Went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 1 doubles to help CSU to victories over Detroit Mercy and Oakland.

Danny Tesler | So. | Men's Lacrosse
Won 12-of-13 faceoffs vs. Hampton, helping CSU to a program record 19 goals.

Emily Turski | Sr. | Women's Golf
Shot back-to-back rounds of 76 to tie for 10th place at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational.

Lauren Zawie | Fr. | Women's Outdoor Track & Field
Won the 400 Meter Dash at the Bob Kahn Invitational with a time of 1:02.65 and was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team that posted a time of 49.29.
