A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • The Vikings (3-6) are out of action this week for final exams and return to action with three games next week. CSU plays at Niagara on Dec. 19, at Cincinnati on Dec. 21 and hosts Toledo on Dec. 23.
  • CSU split a pair of games last week, falling at Western Michigan, 78-67, on Wednesday night and knocking off Notre Dame (OH), 89-56, on Sunday at home.
  • Tyree Appleby averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals last week, while shooting .800 (12-15) from the field, including 5-of-6 (.833) from three-point.
  • The Vikings tied the single game program record with 14 three-pointers in the win over NDC.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Cleveland State (6-3) will close out its non-league schedule this weekend, hitting the road for a pair of contests at Illinois State (Sunday, December 17) and Bradley (Tuesday, December 19).
  • The Vikings split their games last time out, picking up a 71-64 victory over Ohio in the annual Kids Day Game, and falling at Toledo, 65-56.
  • After averaging 4.0 assists per game last week, redshirt senior Khayla Livingston cracked the top-10 in the CSU Career Record Book, finishing the week ranked 10th with 311 career helpers.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING

  • Cleveland State will take time off for the semester break before resuming action at home Jan. 12-13.
  • CSU won 14-of-16 events to pick up its first road win of the season this past Saturday with a 176-105 victory over Ashland.
  • Sophomores DJ Arslanian (100 free, 200 fly) and Tyler Stevenson (50 free, 500 free) both won two individual events and also swam on a winning relay.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING

  • Cleveland State will take time off for the semester break before resuming action at home Jan. 12-13.
  • CSU won 14-of-16 events to pick up its first road win of the season this past Saturday with a 182-90 victory over Ashland.
  • Junior Molly McNamara (100 butterfly, 200 breaststroke) and freshman Lexie Kostelnik (200 butterfly, 500 freestyle) both won two individual events in the victory.

WRESTLING

  • Cleveland State closes the calendar year this Saturday, Dec. 16, as it stays at home to host the annual Cleveland State Open.
  • The Vikings hosted a pair of duals on back-to-back days this past weekend, as CSU fell to Eastern Michigan (13-29) before rebounding to take care of John Carroll (35-12).
  • Redshirt senior Nick Corba and redshirt sophomore Ryan Montgomery both won twice on the weekend with the senior posting victories via major decision and technical fall.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Nick Corba | Sr. | Wrestling

Corba won both of his matches at 184 pounds last week, increasing his season win total to a team-high 14. He started the weekend with an 11-0 major decision against Eastern Michigan and then earned an 18-2 technical fall win in 5:19 in a victory over John Carroll.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

Tyree Appleby | Fr. | Men's Basketball
Scored a career-high 24 points at Western Michigan, hitting 8-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point.

Lexie Kostelnik | Fr. | Women's Swimming
Won the 200 fly and 500 free to help lead CSU to a win at Ashland.

Tyler Stevenson | Fr. | Men's Swimming
Won the 50 free and 500 free in a victory at Ashland.

Olivia Voskuhl | Sr. | Women's Basketball
Notched her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Ohio.
