A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• The Vikings will continue the 2017 season at the Friendship Invitational this weekend, with the women's 5K slated for a 10:15 a.m. start on Saturday, September 16.
• Last time out the Vikings had three runners place in the top-15 at the Tommy Evans Invitational. Freshman Anna Brandt was Cleveland State's top finisher, placing sixth with a time of 18:27.

Men's Golf
• The Vikings will play in two events this week, competing in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 11-12) and the EKU Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 16-17).
• CSU opened the fall season at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate last week, placing fifth of 15 teams. The Vikings used a final round 298 to move up from seventh to fifth in the final standings.
• Anton Krecic paced the Vikings as he tied for 18th with a 228 total (80-74-74), while senior Blake Prince shot rounds of 83-69-77 and tied for 23rd place at 229.

Women's Golf
• CSU is out of action until the Cardinal Classic next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 18-19) in Yorktown, Ind.
• The Vikings finished third of 10 teams at the season opening Roseann Schwartz Invitational last week.
• Freshman Madison Butler shot 72-77 (149) to earn medalist honors in her first career collegiate tournament, while Kaylee Neumeister carded back-to-back rounds of 76 and finished in a tie for sixth place.

Men's Soccer
• Cleveland State (2-3) finishes its five match road trip on Tuesday (Sept. 12) at Xavier before returning home for its Horizon League home opener against Northern Kentucky on Saturday (Sept. 16). Both matches are at 7:00 pm.
• The Vikings opened last week by dropping a hard-fought affair at #13 Michigan State, 1-0.
• CSU rebounded to win its League opener on Saturday night, coming from behind to post a 2-1 win at IUPUI. Alec Nagucki scored the tying goal before the Vikings won it in the final minute.

Women's Soccer
• The Vikings (4-5) open Horizon League play on Friday (Sept. 15) when CSU travels to League newcomer IUPUI for a 7:00 pm match.
• CSU won two of its three matches last week, earning a 2-0 win over Canisius on Wednesday and a 3-0 triumph over Niagara on Sunday. The Vikings also dropped a 2-0 contest to Toledo on Friday night.
• McKenna Vento scored a goal and had an assist in the win over Canisius and added another goal in the victory over Niagara. Jenna Prathapa netted two goals vs. Niagara and had an assists in the win against Canisius.

Volleyball
• Cleveland State (5-3) will close out its non-league slate this weekend, taking part in the Panther Challenge. The Vikings will face Eastern Kentucky on Friday (Sept. 15) before taking on UC Santa Barbara and host Pittsburgh on Saturday (Sept. 16).
• The Vikings went 2-0 at the Chippewa Challenge over the weekend, defeating Central Michigan and Indiana State in a pair of 3-0 sweeps.
• Shannon Grega was named the Tournament MVP, while Gina Kilner and Emily DeGeorge were named to the All-Tournament Team.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Madison Butler | Freshman | Women's Golf | Medina, Ohio

Butler won the Roseanne Schwartz Invitational, her first collegiate tournament, and helped CSU to a third place finish at the event. She opened her collegiate career by shooting an ever-par 72 to take a three shot lead and followed that with a second round 77 to earn medalist honors by two shots.
