A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• The Vikings will compete in their second straight 5K race this week, traveling to Akron for the Tommy Evans Invitational on Thursday, September 7.
• Last time out, Cleveland State had four runners post sub 20-minute 5K times at the Duquesne Duals, led by freshman Anna Brandt who posted a time of 19:05 in her first collegiate race.
 
Men's Golf
• The Vikings conclude play at the season opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Verona, N.Y. on Monday (Sept. 4).
• CSU shot 326-299 on Sunday (Sept. 3) in the opening two rounds and is in seventh place out of 15 teams entering the final round.
• Senior Blake Prince is tied for 13th place overall after rounds of 83-69. He was one of just four players to break 70 as the field battled rain, wind and cold during the opening round.
 
Women's Golf
• The Vikings open the 2017-18 season at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 4-5) at Mill Creek GC in Boardman, Ohio.
• CSU returns four of the five players who were in the lineup as the Vikings claimed their first Horizon League Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA regionals.
• Returning to the squad are seniors Sophie Kelner, a second team all-league honoree last year and Emily Turski, junior Rayna Oosterhuis and sophomore Kaylee Neumeister, a first team all-league pick last year.
 
Men's Soccer
• CSU (1-2) plays at No. 13 Michigan State on Monday (Sept. 4) at 7:00 pm and opens Horizon League play with a 7:00 pm match at League newcomer IUPUI on Saturday (Sept. 9).
• The Vikings dropped a pair of matches last week, falling at Bowling Green, 2-0, on Tuesday and at  Michigan, 3-1, on Friday. Thomas Bielanski scored CSU's goal against the Wolverines.
 
Women's Soccer
• CSU (2-4) returns home for three matches this week, hosting Canisius on Wednesday (Sept. 6) at 7:00 pm, Toledo on Friday (Sept. 8) at 7:00 pm and Niagara on Sunday (Sept. 10) at 1:00 pm.
• The Vikings split a pair of matches last week, earning a 1-0 double overtime win at Akron on Thursday on Grace Grant's free kick goal, and falling 1-0 at Butler on Sunday.
• Jamie Daniels made nine saves in the two matches, including eight vs. Butler.
 
Volleyball
• Cleveland State (3-3) continues its non-league slate with a pair of matches at the Chippewa Challenge this weekend, taking on Central Michigan (Friday, September 8) and Indiana State (Saturday, September 9).
- Last time out, the Vikings went 2-1 on their East Coast swing through New York, picking up victories over Fordham (3-0) and Marist (3-1) and falling in five sets to Binghamton.
- Two Vikings earned a spot on the weekend's All-Tournament Team; Alexis Middlebrooks after averaging 4.25 kills/set on a .441 hitting percentage and Gina Kilner after averaging 11.58 assists per set.

Alexis Middlebrooks | Senior | Volleyball | Elyria, Ohio
 
Middlebrooks earned her second straight all-tournament team accolade in as many weeks, averaging 4.25 kills with a .441 hitting percentage in CSU's three matches in New York over the weekend. She had a weekend-best 19 kills at vs. Binghamton and eclipsed 850 career kills with an 18 kill performance at Marist.
