A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• CSU begins the 2017 season this weekend, participating in the Duquesne Duals on Saturday, September 2.
• The Vikings return nine letterwinners, including Horizon League First Team honoree senior Karen Barrientos, and welcomes six newcomers.

Men's Golf
• CSU opens the fall season at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate which begins on Sunday (Sept. 2) in Verona, N.Y.
• The Vikings have captured the last four Horizon League Championships and welcome back four of the five players who competed in the League championship, including junior Anton Krecic who was the medalist.

Men's Soccer
• CSU (1-0) continues early season play with a 7:00 pm match at Bowling Green on Tuesday (Aug. 29). The Vikings will also travel to Michigan State on Friday (Sept. 1) for a 7:00 pm match.
• The Vikings claimed a 3-1 win over Robert Morris in the season opener on Friday night at Krenzler Field.
• Gabriel Pewu, Noah Pio and Lawrence Karpeh all scored goals for the Vikings, while Karpeh, Brent Nanchoff and Jordan Ianiro recorded assists.

Women's Soccer
• The Vikings (1-3) continue their early season road swing with two matches this week, playing at Akron on Thursday (Aug. 31) at 7:00 pm and at Butler on Sunday (Sept. 3) at 4:00 pm.
• CSU dropped a pair of matches over the weekend, including a 2-1 setback to Binghamton on Friday in the home opener at Krenzler Field.
• Freshman Jenna Prathapa scored a goal in each of CSU's first three matches and leads the team in goals (3) and points (6). Freshman Grace Grant and sophomore Aliani Lorenzo also have goals this year.

Volleyball
• Cleveland State (1-2) will continue non-league play with a trip out East this weekend, facing Fordham (Friday, September 1), Binghamton (Saturday, September 2) and Marist (Saturday, September 2) in a trio of matches.
• The Vikings opened 2017 at the Purdue Mortar Board Invitational last weekend, picking up a 3-2 victory against Oral Roberts and coming up short against Power Five opponents Alabama (3-2) and No. 25 Purdue (3-0).
• Senior Alexis Middlebrooks was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting 40 kills on a .337 hitting percentage on the weekend, along with 12 blocks.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Lawrence Karpeh | Soph. | Men's Soccer

Karpeh helped the Vikings to a 3-1 win over Robert Morris in the season opener, tallying a goal and an assist. He had an assist on the first goal of the match to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead and iced the match with his fifth career goal in the 84th minute to push the CSU lead to 3-1.
