A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Men's Basketball
• The Vikings (9-21, 5-13 HL) earned the No. 8 seed in the 2017 Horizon League Championship and will open play on Friday at 8pm with a first round game vs. No. 9 Youngstown State.
• The winner advances to play top-seeded Oakland on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
• CSU split two games last week, falling at Detroit and topping YSU, 69-55, in the regular season finale.

Women's Basketball
• Cleveland State (14-15, 9-9 HL) will enter the 2017 Horizon League Tournament as the No. 6 seed, and will open play with a second round contest against third-seeded Detroit at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5.
• CSU split two games last week vs. Detroit (W, 75-70) and Oakland (L, 93-79) to close out the regular season.

Men's & Women's Fencing
• The Vikings are back in action at the Arnold Fencing Classic from Friday through Sunday (March 3-5).
• Cleveland State finished eighth of 23 teams at the Midwest Conference Championships with 965 points.
• Matthew Gebbett finished fifth in men's saber action, the highest finisher for a CSU student-athlete.

Men's Golf
• CSU opens the spring season at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 27-28).
• The Vikings have won three straight Horizon League titles and were tabbed the League favorite.

Women's Golf
• CSU opened the season by winning a tri-meet with Oakland and Youngstown State in Florida in meeting of the teams picked at the top of the League preseason poll. Kaylee Neumeister shot 73 to share medalist honors.

Men's Lacrosse
• Cleveland State (2-4) returns home this weekend to host Canisius Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Vikings competed in the Faceoff Classic at Denver last weekend, falling 19-6 to No. 1 Denver and a 16-2 contest to Air Force.

Softball
• CSU (1-12) returns to action for four games at the Winthrop Tournament, playing DePaul and Winthrop on Friday and Saturday.

Men's Swimming & Diving
• CSU placed second at the Horizon League Championships with 663 points, its highest point total at the event since it won in 2013.
• Philipp Sikatzki was named Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight year, becoming the first individual in League history to win Athlete of the Year in back-to-back years.

Women's Swimming & Diving
• CSU finished in fifth place with 382 points, as it improved two positions from last year's League meet.
• Molly McNamara won her first League title by claiming the 200 butterfly in a school-record time. She also was the runner-up in the 100 fly, while the 200 medley relay broke the school record in 1:40.97.

Men's Tennis
• Cleveland State (5-6) will return to the road this week, facing Xavier in a neutral site match on Thursday, March 2 and traveling to Western Michigan on Friday, March 3.
• Nico Mostardi and Mirko Radosevic both went 2-1 in singles play in a trio of matches last week, with Mostardi picking up his two wins at the top of the singles lineup and Radosevic earning wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.

Women's Tennis
• The Vikings (3-7) will return to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this weekend, hosting Butler (10:00 a.m.) and St. Bonaventure (2:00 p.m.) in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 4. CSU fell to Akron, 7-0, last week.

Women's Track & Field
• Cleveland State had a strong showing at the Horizon League Indoor Championship over the weekend, with the Distance Medley Relay team earning Cleveland State's best finish - fifth in a time of 12:29.78.

Wrestling
• CSU (2-11) returns to action at the EWL Championships on Saturday, March 4, at Bloomsburg. The EWL was awarded 17 automatic qualifying spots into the NCAA Tournament.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Phillip Sikatzki| Senior | Men's Swimming | Leipzig, Germany

Sikatzki led the Vikings to a runner-up finish at the League Championship and was named the Athlete of the Meet and Swimmer of the Year, becoming the first athlete in League history to win either award in consecutive years. Sikatzki won three titles - recording NCAA "B" cut times in the 100 fly, 100 back and 100 free - and was part of two winning relay teams.

Matthew Gebbett | Jr. | Men's Fencing
Finished fifth in the saber event at the Midwest Conference Championships.

Khayla Livingston | Jr. | Women's Basketball
Averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in CSU's two games last week.

Kasheem Thomas | Fr. | Men's Basketball
Tied program record for most starts in a season by a freshman with 30.
