A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Men's Basketball
• Cleveland State (3-6) closes the non-league slate with three games over the next 10 days. The Vikings play at Ohio on Saturday (Dec. 17), host Lake Erie on Dec. 19 and travel to Belmont on Dec. 22.
• The Vikings split two games last week, earning an 85-62 win over Western Michigan to improve to 3-0 at home this year. CSU also fell at #18 Purdue on Saturday, its second game against a top-25 team this year.
• Bobby Word averaged 19.5 points in the two games, including a career-high 25 points in the win over Western Michigan.
• Rob Edwards is ranked seventh in the Horizon League in scoring (15.3), while Word is 17th at 12.1 points per game. Kasheem Thomas' 4.4 assists per game are third best in the League.

Women's Basketball
• After a brief stint at home, the Vikings (4-5) will return to the road this weekend, traveling to Bucknell for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Sunday, December 18.
• The Vikings split two games last week, including a 66-56 win at Eastern Illinois on Wednesday.
• Entering the final stretch of the non-league play, Ashanti Abshaw ranks third in the League standings at 17.7 points per game, while Khayla Livingston also ranks third averaging 5.1 assists per contest.
• Cleveland State has two games left on its non-league slate, also traveling to Bowling Green (Dec. 21) in addition to Sunday's contest against the Bison.

Men's Swimming & Diving
• The Vikings (2-1) will be out of action until after the holiday break when CSU travels to UIC on Jan. 14 for a Horizon League dual.
• CSU's scheduled home meet vs. Canisius on Saturday (Dec. 10) was canceled due to poor weather conditions.
• The men's squad has been out of action since winning the Magnus Cup (Nov. 18-20) for the third consecutive season, as they accrued 1,608.5 points.
• Senior Philipp Sikatzki broke the school record in the 200 IM, reset two pool records and notched NCAA 'B' cut times in four events. Sophomore Tommi Wolst book the school record in the 200 backstroke and surpassed two NCAA 'B' standards.

Women's Swimming & Diving
•  The Vikings (2-2) will be out of action until after the holiday break when CSU travels to UIC on Jan. 14 for a Horizon League dual.
• CSU's home meet vs. Canisius on Saturday (Dec. 10) was canceled due to poor weather conditions.
• The CSU women finished fourth of 14 teams at the Magnus Cup (Nov. 18-20) in their last action with 800.5 points, their best finish at the meet since 2013.
• Sophomore Molly McNamara broke the school record in the 100 fly, with a 'B' standard, and also won the 200 fly. Junior Tobie Zeller won the 100 breaststroke for the Vikings.

Wrestling
• Cleveland State (1-4, 0-0 EWL) will compete at home for the first time this season when it hosts the Cleveland State Open this Saturday, Dec. 17.
• CSU dropped matches to Indiana (46-6) and host Eastern Michigan (38-12) in a tri-dual this past Sunday.
• Sophomore Evan Cheek and junior Nick Corba each picked up one win by fall in the tri-dual. Corba now owns a team-leading 11 wins this season.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Grace Kauth| Senior | Volleyball | Vandalia, Ohio

Cheek claimed the 141 pound title at the Storm Open over the weekend, winning all four of his matches to improve to 8-3 this year. He earned a seven-point win in his opening match, won by technical fall in the quarterfinals and earned a 15-1 major decision in the semifinals. In the championship, Cheek claimed an 18-8 major decision.

Was named the third head coach in program history last week.

Jade Ely | Fr. | Women's Basketball
Scored 10 points, hitting 4-of-5 from the field, in CSU's win at Eastern Illinois on Wednesday.

Averaged 19.5 points in two games last week, including a career-high 25 points against Western Michigan.
