A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• After a week off from competition, the Vikings will return to the cross country course on Saturday, October 29, taking part in the 2016 Horizon League Championship.
• This year's championship will be hosted by Milwaukee and will take place at the Wayne Dannehl XC Course.
• So far this season the Vikings have been paced by the duo of Karen Barrientos and Ashlyn Woods – who have placed first and second, respectively, for the Vikings during the first seven races.

Fencing
• CSU will be off this week and will resume action Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Case Western Duals.
• The Vikings participated in the Case Western Reserve Fall Open this past weekend.

Men's Soccer
• Cleveland State (6-7-2, 3-2-2 HL) has its lone match this week as it hosts Oakland in its regular-season home finale Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m.
• The Vikings opened the week with a 1-0 win over ACC foe Pittsburgh as Noah Pio scored his first goal as a Viking and Sebastian Kalk registered the shutout.
• CSU also dropped a 2-0 decision at League leader Wright State on Saturday despite shots on goal being even at 5-5.

Women's Soccer
• The Vikings (5-11, 2-6 HL) close the 2016 season on Friday (Oct. 28) with an 8:00 pm ET match at Milwaukee.
• CSU split a pair of League contests last week, earning a 2-1 win at Youngstown State on Wednesday and falling to Green Bay, 2-1, on Saturday in the home finale.
• Ashley Thiss and McKenna Vento scored goals in the win at YSU, while Toni Dickson tallied the goal vs. Green Bay.
• Katie Bainbridge recorded an assist in each of the matches.

Swimming & Diving
• CSU will have its home opener this weekend as both programs host Xavier on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1:00 p.m.
• The Viking men defeated St. Bonaventure, 145-96, in their first dual meet on Saturday. Sophomore Tommi Wolst won two individual events (100 back, 200 IM) and was on a winning relay team.
• The Viking women defeated St. Bonaventure, 137-106, in their first dual meet of the season on Saturday. Junior Jamie VanDewerker and sophomore Claudia Zido both won two individual events and also swam on a winning relay.

Men's Tennis
• The Vikings will take the week off from competition, and will return to action November 4 – November 6 when they host the Viking Invitational at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion
• The inaugural Men's Tennis Viking Invitational will consist of a 48-player Singles Draw and a 24-team Doubles Draw.
• A singles and doubles champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the three-day tournament.

Women's Tennis
• Cleveland State will have a week off from competition this week, returning to the courts at the WMU Super Challenge November 4 – November 6.
• Last time out, Victoria Bensimon moved into a tie for ninth place on the CSU All-Time Singles Wins list, after picking up a 7-6, 6-3 victory over an Illinois State opponent at the ITA Midwets Regional.

Volleyball
• Cleveland State (18-4, 9-1) will return to Woodling Gymnasium to continue Horizon League play this weekend, hosting Valparaiso (Friday, October 28 @ 7:00 p.m.) and Northern Kentucky (Saturday, October 29 @ 4:00 p.m.).
• The Vikings extended their win streak to nine straight with wins at UIC (3-1) and Milwaukee (3-2) last weekend, maintaining its hold on first place in the Horizon League.
• Entering this weekend's matches, the Vikings lead the Horizon League in all three offensive categories (hitting percentage, kills, assists), while also sitting atop the league standings in blocks.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Claudia Zido | Sophomore | Women's Swimming | Pittsburgh, Pa

Zido helped the Vikings to a 137-106 win at St. Bonaventure in CSU's first dual meet of the season. She scored 29 points, earning wins in the 500 free (5:14.21) and 1,000 free (10:43.21). In addition, Zido swam the anchor leg of the 200 free relay, helping the Vikings to a first place finish.

Katie Bainbridge | Jr. | Women's Soccer
Recorded an assist in each of CSU's games last week and leads the team with three assists this year.

Tommi Wolst | So. | Men's Swimming
Won the 100 back and 200 IM and was on winning 400 medley relay team in win at St. Bonaventure.

Aaliyah Slappy | Sr. | Volleyball
Averaged 1.89 blocks per set in two wins last weekend, posting 17 total blocks.
