A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• The Vikings will continue the 2016 season at the Friendship Invitational on Saturday, September 17. The women's 5K race is slated to start at 10:15 a.m. in Cedarville, Ohio.
• The Vikings were on the course this past weekend at the Detroit Titan Invitational on Saturday, where Cleveland State was once again paced by the trio of Karen Barrientos, Ashlyn Woods, and Olivia Hammons.
• For the second straight week, Barrientos' time ranked in the top-50 on the CSU top performances list, as her time of 19:02 at the Titan Invite is tied for ninth all-time at Cleveland State.

Men's Golf
• CSU continues its fall season with two events this week, starting with the Joe Feagans Marshall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 12-17) in Charleston, W. Va.
• The Vikings will also compete at the EKU Intercollegiate Sponsored by Raisin Cane's in Richmond, Ky., on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 17-18).
• The Vikings opened the season by placing fifth at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate last week as Patrick Luth shot rounds of 71-74-71 to tie for ninth place. Blake Prince tied for 20th place with rounds of 77-72-74.

Women's Golf
• CSU concludes play at the William & Mary Invitational on Monday morning. The Vikings shot rounds of 315 and 323 to open the tournament on Sunday.
• Freshman Ellie Cronin leads the Vikings after rounds of 81-76 on Sunday, which ties her for 31st place.
• Freshman Kaylee Neumeister and junior Sophie Kelner are both tied for 41st place with 159 totals. Neumeister combined to make 24 pars over the first two rounds, tied for the third most among players in the field.
• CSU opened the fall season by placing third at the YSU Kickoff last week. Neumeister shot back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish third, while Sophie Kelner was right behind Neumeister, tying for fourth place with rounds of 74-76 (150).

Men's Soccer
• Cleveland State (3-2, 1-0 HL) concludes a three-game road trip with two road matches this week. The Vikings play at Cincinnati on Wednesday at 7:00 pm before continuing Horizon League play on Saturday at Detroit at 1:00 pm.
• The Vikings began last week with a heartbreaking, 1-0, loss to Bowling Green in the waning seconds of double overtime, but rebounded to win its Horizon League opener at Belmont, 2-1, in a game in which it outshot the Bruins, 28-10.
• Dan Koniarczyk and Hesham Hammouda scored at Belmont, the second goal of the season for each player.

Women's Soccer
• The Vikings (3-5) open Horizon League play on Friday when CSU hosts Valparaiso at 7:00 pm at Krenzler Field.
• CSU split its final two non-conference matches of the season last week, falling at Toledo on Friday, 1-0, and earning a 1-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Sunday on a goal from McKenna Vento in the 67th minute.
• All three of CSU's wins this year have come via shutouts as Jamie Daniels has increased her career shutout total to eight, ranking third all-time in school history.

Volleyball
• Cleveland State (7-2) will close out the non-league portion of its schedule this weekend, participating in the Hoosier Classic on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17.
• The Vikings will face IUPUI on Friday (Sept. 16) and Arkansas State and host Indiana on Saturday (Sept. 17) in their final early-season tournament.
• Last time out the Vikings captured the Cherry & White Challenge title – picking up wins against host Temple (3-2), Rutgers (3-0), and New Hampshire (3-1).
• Grace Kauth was named MVP of the tournament, while Gina Kilner and Aaliyah Slappy earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.
• With 31 digs on the weekend, Kauth eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark for her career, becoming the 17th Viking all-time to achieve the feat. Kauth is also just the sixth Viking all-time to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Grace Kauth, Senior, Volleyball

Kauth was named the MVP of the Cherry & White Challenge, helping the Vikings to the tournament title with a 3-0 mark. Kauth led the Vikings with 51 kills and 31 digs in the three matches, posting double-doubles against Temple (23 kills and 11 digs) and New Hampshire (16 kills and 16 digs).
