A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

MEN'S SOCCER
• Cleveland State opens the 2016 season with a pair of matches this weekend.
• The Vikings host Dayton on Friday (Aug. 26) at 7:00 pm and play at Robert Morris on Sunday (Aug. 28) at 1:00 pm.
• The Vikings played two exhibition matches last week, earning a 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati last Wednesday and falling at St. Francis (Pa.), 3-0, on Sunday.
• Head coach Ali Kazemaini will lead the Vikings for his 11th and final season on the sidelines, announcing that he will step down at the end of the 2016 season.
• CSU returns 16 players from last year, including Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, Sergio Manesio, as well as second team all-league selections Jake Lagania and Dan Koniarczyk.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
• CSU (0-2) continues its early season road swing with matches at Canisius (Aug. 26 @ 7pm) and at Niagara (Aug. 28 @ 1pm).
• The Vikings dropped two matches over the weekend, falling at Howard on Friday night and at George Washington on Sunday afternoon. CSU lost both games by 2-1 scores.
• Katie Bainbridge netted CSU's goal in the loss to Howard, while Kaila Sargema scored in the setback at George Washington. It was Sargema's 13th career goal, tied for third in CSU history.

VOLLEYBALL
• Cleveland State will begin the 2016 season this weekend, taking part in the Golden Dome Invitational on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27.
• The Vikings will take on Western Michigan (Aug. 26 @ 4:30 p.m.), host Notre Dame (Aug. 27 @ 12:30 p.m.), and Seton Hall (Aug. 27 @ 4:30 p.m.) during the two-day tournament.
• Last week the Vikings were selected as the Horizon League Preseason favorite to defend their regular season and tournament championships from last year, earning 60 points and four first place votes.
• Cleveland State returns 11 letterwinners - including five starters - from last year's championship squad, and is under the direction of 17-year head coach Chuck Voss.
• Entering the 2016 season, Voss is just three wins shy of becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history, and just nine wins shy of notching his 300th career victory with the Vikings.

VIKING OF THE WEEK
