Champions For Life is a mentoring program that connects business leaders with Cleveland State University student-athletes as mentors (Champions) who will support and encourage the student-athletes’ academic, professional and personal growth. Champions from diverse industries and professions provide student-athletes real-life opportunities to explore various careers while helping student-athletes enhance their social, communication and leadership skills. The Champions For Life program is a powerful tool to help CSU student-athletes make the successful transition from college to the professional world.
Desired Outcomes:
- Enhancement of social, communication and leadership skills
- Academic, Professional, and Personal Growth
- Assist student-athletes in making a successful transition from college to the professional world
- Hands-on experience exploring various careers
The Champions For Life program provides Champions and student-athletes the opportunity to interact through various touchpoints during the academic year. All of these activities are monitored and approved through CSU’s NCAA Compliance Office.
Touchpoints Include:
- Champions For Life Tip-Off Event
- Champion's workplace visit
- A dinner at the Champion's home
- A campus visit by the Champion
- A CSU athletic event outing for the Champion and student-athlete
- End-of-year reception
